WikiLeaks to Release Secret Rupert Murdoch News Corp Files If Something Happens to Assange
January 13, 2011
(ChattahBox World News)—Julian Assange has a stash of “insurance files” that will only come to light if something happens to him or to WikiLeaks, and those files will embarrass not only government entities but private companies as well, he told The New Statesman in an interview. “There are 504 U.S. embassy cables on one broadcasting organization and there are cables on Murdoch and News Corp,” Assange told the publication.
Assange also said that China is worse about censorship than the U.S., and WikiLeaks has had to use creative means to allow Chinese citizens to read its Web site despite Chinese interception techniques, the New Statesman reports. In addition, Assange shot down rumors that WikiLeaks is facing internal troubles, noting that the site is publishing more information than ever.
Assange believes that the U.S. government is trying to make a case that he conspired with U.S. solder Bradley Manning (who is accused of leaking the private cables to WikiLeaks) to harm the U.S. government’s security, but tells the New Statesman that such an allegation couldn’t be further from the truth. “I’d never heard his name before it was published in the press…WikiLeaks technology was designed from the very beginning to make sure that we never knew the identities or names of people submitting material.”
