“The Storm” Unveiled by Blackberry

(ChattahBox) — Blackberry launched “the Storm”, a device that takes pictures, surfs Facebook, MySpace with ease, plays movies and music. It is the world’s first phone with a clickable touch screen. Blackberry has been mostly an email and phone device that is used by the professionals. The company has launched its new phone to counter the popularity of iPhone. Blackberry Storm has been launched by Research in Motion Ltd. which is the first major counter attack to iPhone.

Verizon prepared itself for the launch of the new phone from Blackberry as the carrier has signed a  contract with the company to provide exclusivity all across the United States. The phone is set at $199 through a two year contract with Verizon and a $50 mil-in rebate. The new phone is supposed to be an instant success considering the low price compared to an array of features offered with it. Verizon offers a minimum plan of $49.99 for data only without any voice services. The company will charge minimum $69.99 for both and data services. The company also offers various plans to suit various customer needs that includes features like browsing, email, SMS test messaging, etc.

The Storm is the first device from Blackberry with touchscreen technology with a large display of 3.25 inches and resolution of 360 by 480. It has 3.2 mega pixel camera and 1400 mAh battery. The superior battery allows nearly six hours of talk time on 3G networks or 15 days of standby time. The “SurePress” technology allows the user to select his choice of keyboard. The portrait mode brings up a SureType keyboards while holding the phone in landscape mode brings up a fill Qwerty type keyboard.

All the accessories including Colourful Plastic Colorful Hard Plastic Shells, Desktop Charging Pod, Pouches, Stereo Headset with Media Control and Wristlets and Sleeves are available in a price range of $19.99 to $39.99.
