Eddie Bauer Bought In Deal With Golden Gate Capital

July 18, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – After an intense bidding war, Golden Gate Capital has won the rights to premium outdoor clothing company, Eddie Bauer, The LA Times reports.  Used to love to get their catalogs back in the day.

The winning bid was for $286 million, beating out several competitors, including many liquidation companies that were hoping to squeeze what they could from the fallen chain.

Because Golden Gate Capital is hoping to keep most locations up and running it should still be possible for fans of the Eddie Bauer line to shop for their favorites.

Eddie Bauer filed for bankruptcy protection last month, after struggling for years to increase profits. Creditors have mounted drastically in the meantime, and are waiting to be paid out as the deal passes through.
