The Cost Of Beer is Going Up This Year!

August 26, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – Scrounging together a few bucks in change for a beer run may be a thing of the past, as officials within the industry warn that they will be raising their prices to maintain profits.

Beer has always been a fairly stable industry with a continuing market. But Anheuser-Busch InBev say that lower volumes and higher commodity will be forcing them to drive up prices to make end’s meet.

“We plan on taking price increases on a majority of volume and in a majority of markets this fall. The increase helps cover some input costs.”

This seems rather amusing to me.

I was at a concert a few weeks ago, and there was a Budweiser tent opened on the premises. I ended up paying a ridiculous $5.00 for a beer, and not a great beer at that. It seems to me that prices are raised in a number of opportune situations that would cover plenty of costs. But that’s just me.

European company Heineken has already increased prices and see benefits, which isn’t exactly shocking. After all, more money usually equals to happy days for businesses.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not actually blaming beer companies here. Of course in a time of a difficult economy prices go up, and beer is among a long list of sales items that would qualify for that price hike.

I am just pointing out that this is why I usually stick with wine.
