Car Thief Keeps Calling 911 To Brag – Guess What Happens?

March 2, 2009

A Duluth man turned a thrill ride into a catch me if you can game that didn’t turn out so well for him.

A police officer spotted the 23-year-old man in a stolen car about 2 a.m. Friday and gave chase. The man crashed into a guardrail, then turned off his lights and sped away, but police soon found the car abandoned.

Not satisfied with narrowly escaping the cops the man allegedly began calling 911 from a cell phone to brag to the dispatchers he would not be caught because he was “smarter than the police.”

Two hours later, another man called 911 to report a prowler at his home.

TV station KBJR a CBS affiliate, reports police tracked the suspect through the snow with a police dog, and found the suspect hiding in a shed, where he resisted arrest before being taken into custody.

The suspect is now at the St. Louis County jail pending a host of charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, burglary, tampering with a motor vehicle, trespassing, and assaulting an officer.
