Barry Manilow To Become A Weapon Against Loitering Teens?

March 3, 2009

New Zealand (ChattahBox) – Wellington officials have discovered a unique weapon in battling unruly teens: Barry Manilow.

The American singer’s tunes will be played at a local mall that has been struggling with problems of local teens using the area to use drugs, spray graffiti, and intimidate patrons. They hope that the easy listening hits will be enough to chase them to a new spot.

“The intention is to change the environment in a positive way, so nobody feels threatened or intimidated,” Paul Lonsdale, one of the city business officials responsible for the plan, told papers.

“I did not say Barry Manilow is a weapon of mass destruction.”

But local teens say they will just bring their stereos, and play them louder then the music in the mall. Local police say that if this happens, the teens will be charged with breaking city noise ordinances, and causing a disturbance.
