Cannibal Brothers Arrested In Russia

April 16, 2009

Russia (ChattahBox) – In a Hannibal Lector story with a twist, two brothers have been arrested for murdering and eating the third over the course of six months, in the Russian providence of Perm, as originally reported in the newspaper Tvoi Den.

The two men, named in the press only as Marat and Timur, admitted to police that they killed their brother Rafis in an argument. Fearing that they would go to prison (Timur himself spent a decade behind bars for another murder that the deceased brother reported him on), the pair removed Rafis’ head, buried it in the garden, and dismembered the body.

They kept the various pieces in the refrigerator and ate the flesh over a six month period, in an effort to hide the crime.

Cannibalism is a rare crime, but not unheard of in modern society. In February, three men were arrested in Brazil for murdering and consuming a young farmer in the Amazon.

In 2001, Armin Meiwes was arrested for the torture, death, and consumption of Bernd Brandes, which was said to have been consensual after it was discovered that Brandes responded to an ad placed by Meiwes seeking a victim. The whole incident was recorded by the pair themselves.

There is no word yet on exactly how the brothers in this case will be charged.
