Priest Offers Forgiveness After Confessional Stabbing

April 29, 2009

Florida (ChattahBox) – If there are any Loveline fans reading this, you may remember the game from the Adam and Drew days called Germany or Florida, where they stated that everything crazy, horrible, and weird comes from one of those two places. It would seem the theory has been proven right, after a Florida woman stabbed a priest in a confessional.

Her reason? Because she believed he was the Antichrist.

Josephine Gatchell has been arrested after she stabbed Reverend Michael Massaro twice in the back, saying that she believed it was her duty to stop him from becoming the most evil man, and in fact the devil incarnate, that is mentioned in Revelations.

“I was in the confessional, putting my coat on, and felt a piercing sensation in my back left side. I looked up and she was standing there, and I felt it again in my back,” the reverend recalled.

“Then I realized I was stabbed and my hand was covered with blood.”

This is the second time Gatchell has been arrested for causing a scene in the church, after a year before she broke pieces off of a sacred statue. When asked why she did so, she said that the priest had stolen it from her husband’s funeral 40 years before (keep in mind, she is 57), and that he is the Antichrist.

When police arrived to take her to the station, she attacked them, resisted arrest, and tried to steal one cop’s gun.

She has admitted to stabbing Massaro, and is being held for arraignment.

Reverend Massaro is recovering, and doctors have said he will live to take another confession.

“We can’t live in fear,” he said in a phone interview with CNN.

“God has asked us to live in trust. If it’s going to happen again, it’s going to happen again, but that’s not going to prevent me from doing God’s work.”
