Peeing In The Pool? It’s More Common Then You Think

May 15, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – You may want to think twice before doing that cannonball. As it turns out, 1 in 5 Americans admit to peeing in swimming pools, a new survey shows.

But that isn’t all that was found. According to the Water Quality and Health Council survey, 35% of swimmers don’t shower before hopping in, contaminating the water each time they decide to take a dip.

When asked to comment, CDC official Michele Hlavsa said that swimmers “have a role to play in maintaining a clean and healthy pool. Unhygienic behavior brings germs into the pool and makes it harder for chlorine to do its job.”
