$20,000 Bottle Of Wine Stolen And Then Returned

August 5, 2009

Massachusetts (ChattahBox) – Thieves who stole a $20,000 bottle of wine from a local liquor store have returned it, police say.

A woman reportedly walked into the liquor store, distracted the cashier, and allowed two men with her to slip in behind, and steal several bottles.

Among the bottles taken was a 1945 Chateau Mouton Rothschild, estimated at $20,000. It is a rare and loved vintage that has long been a high-priced collectors item for wine enthusiasts.

But a few days later the bottle was returned to police, undamaged and intact.

Police are amazed by this development, and the owner of Hopkinton Wine & Spirits is quite happy.

No arrests have been named, and no suspects named.
