200 Foot Saint To Produce Solar Energy In Italy

August 6, 2009

Italy (ChattahBox) – Italy has announced their plans to erect a 200-ft statue that will produce solar energy, on a hill in the south of the country.

The statue will be of patron Saint Padre Pio, who was canonized in 2002. He is one of the most loved Saints in Italy, and is thought to be prayed to more than any other.

The statue will be one of the country’s first major attempts at utilizing solar energy, and will be their first ‘green statue’.  according to the Ansa news agency, the statue will be coated in a special photovoltaic paint which will enable it to trap the sun’s heat and produce solar energy.
