Air India Pilots Accused Of Sexual Assault, Brawl In Air

October 5, 2009

India (ChattahBox) – Two pilot have been grounded after an alleged sexual assault on a flight attendant led to a brawl at 30,000 feet.

According to an incident report, a flight attendant accused one of the pilots of attempting to molest her, and then forcefully throwing her from the cockpit when she resisted.

A medical examination found several bruises and scratches on the woman that seem to confirm that she was assaulted.

Leading from that claim, a fight broke out, with the pilots leaving their posts to brawl in front of 106 passengers as they flew from the UAE to Delhi.

“The incident of a scuffle between the two pilots and cabin crew members of [flight] IC-884 was reported [Saturday] morning,” an Air India spokesman was quoted by The Daily Mail.

“As there have been claims and counter-claims between the parties involved, the management has ordered an inquiry, which is still in progress. Further action will be decided based on the inquiry report.”

The pilots, Commander Ranbeer Arora and Captain Aditya Chopra, are being investigated, as are counterclaims made by the two that allege the woman’s claim was simply to draw attention away from a misconduct accusation made against another male crew member.

Highly irresponsible actions on the part of those involved.
