Polygamist Cult Leader Arrested In Israel

January 14, 2010

Israel (ChattahBox) – A man who allegedly had at least 17 wives and more than 40 children has been arrested in Tel Aviv, after allegations of enslavement and abuse.

Goel Ratzon has denied that his actions are illegal, saying that all women were there of their own free will, and that his ‘book of rules’ did not show that he was controlling them like slaves.

The book allegedly gives a list of rules, and punishments if they are broken.

The woman were living cramped together in tiny apartments with their children around the city.

In one apartment, they found 10 women and 17 children in a 3 bedroom, where they were living in “horrible conditions”, according to police.

But Ratzon’s lawyer denies her client has done anything wrong.

“He may be different, but he’s not a criminal,” she said.
