A Dachshund, a Doggie Scuba Suit and a Russian

July 5, 2010

(ChattahBox)—This guy really does need to get some human scuba diving companions. A professional diver in Russia is making headlines by scuba diving with his faithful dachshund, dressed in a doggie wet suit and helmet.

Although an Associated Press piece describes the terrified dachshund, named Boniface screeching “high-pitched whines” when taken underwater, his owner, Sergei Gorbunov insists he likes it, he really likes it.

“Once in the water, the dachshund made high pitched protracted sounds as he learned how to dive from his master.” Gorbunov claims Boniface doesn’t suffer from “any stress” once he is underwater.

Why can’t Gorbunov just be satisfied by dressing his pet dachshund in ridiculous costumes, sans the terrifying deep-water diving, like normal dog owners?

Seriously, Gorbunov may as well just waterboard poor Boniface—Same difference.

I always get frustrated when I see people dressing up their dogs but this just seems to be cruel, but I saw a video of this dog in the water and apart from where he head to put his head under the dog seemed to enjoy the experience! So apart from looking a little silly maybe this is the way forward for walking?
