August 17, 2010

UK (ChattahBox) – Police have warned locals of Newcastle, England that a group of young people are speeding on highways in an attempt to conjure the ghost of a motorcyclist who was hit by a car three years ago.

The 20-year-old was killed on Lemon Tree Passage Rd was struck by a driver who was speeding down the highway, and the story has since sparked superstition in some locals.

Young people in the area have been making videos of themselves speeding down the highway at 180km/hour, and capturing what they claim are “ghostly lights” in the rearview mirror. They then post the videos on Youtube, leading others to try it for themselves.

“We want speeding drivers to know that the only bright light they’ll be seeing in their rear windows will be the red and blue lights of a police car,” a police spokesperson told the Daily Telegraph.

Locals are warned to take care on the highway, and to look out for speeding motorists at night.
