The musical from Lin-Manuel Miranda, In The Heights, took the leading 13 nominations. In The Heights, a smaller production, overshadowed other big name hits such as The Little Mermaid and Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein.

Coming in right behind In The Heights was Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific, which took 11 nominations. This was followed by Sunday in the Park with George, which had 9 nominations.

Another smaller production to gain a big nod was Tacey Letts’ August: Osage County, which took 7 nominations, including one for top play.

Young Frankenstein and The Little Mermaid earned 3 and 2 nominations respectively.
