Eddie Murphy has signed on to star in Beverly Hills Cop 4, bringing back yet another major Paramount franchise..Washington (ChattahBox) – Eddie Murphy has signed on to star in Beverly Hills Cop 4, bringing back yet another major Paramount franchise.

Eddie Murphy will reprise his role as the fast talking detective Axel Foley, with Brett Ratner (Rush Hour) in talks to direct the film.

It has been nearly 14 years since Beverly Hills Cop 3 was done, but Paramount feels it is time to bring the franchise back yet again for one more go.

Eddie Murphy reported pitched the idea to bring back the franchise with a great story idea, and Paramount is ready to run with it.

This follows the success of Indiana Jones which revived itself as a franchise after a 19-year absence.

The franchise has grossed $721 million since it made its debut in 1984.
