Achatz Beats Tongue Cancer, Becomes Best Chef In The U.S.

Grant Achatz has received the national James Bear Foundation award for outstanding chef, making him the best chef in the U.S..Washington (ChattahBox) – Grant Achatz has received the national James Bear Foundation award for outstanding chef, making him the best chef in the U.S.

This is truly an amazing story as just last December Achatz managed to beat cancer which he was diagnosed with.

He was suffering from Stage 4 tongue cancer when he was initially diagnosed.

Achatz stated that thing ssuch as his job at the French Laundry in Yountville, California helped him learn how to be a great chef.

He also thanks friends and colleagues during his acceptance speech in Chicago.

His restaurant, Alinea, was named the top restaurant by Gourmet magazine in 2006.
