Famous American actress and dancer Cyd Charisse died at the age of 86-years old due to a heart attack..Boston (ChattahBox) – Famous American actress and dancer Cyd Charisse died at the age of 86-years old due to a heart attack.

She died in Los Angeles at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Monday.

She was famous for her roles in many MGM musicals as well as other works.

She was born Tula Ellice Finklea on March 8, 1922 in Amarillo, Texas and ended up becoming one of the greatest dancers and performers of all time.

Her most notable role was in 1952 when she made her appearance in the Broadway Melody Ballet scene, with Gene Kelly. The musical was a little show called “Singin’ In The Rain.”

Her legs were so special she actually had a $5 million insurance policy on them.

Charisse was also with Fred Astaire in the 1953 film The Band Wagon, and did two movies with Gene Kelly, Brigadoon and It’s Always Fair Weather.

She is survived by her husband, Tomy Martin. The two recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
