The announcement was made on Tuesday by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

They announced that George Carlin will be honored for his amazing and legendary 50-year career.

The comedian, who has already won a Grammy, will be awarded on November 10th.

It will also be broadcast later on PBS.

The 71-year old George Carlin has released 22 solo albums throughout his career, along with 3 best-selling books.

he has also stared in many TV and movie roles.

Past recipients of the award include Whoopi Goldberg, Steve Martin, Billy Crystal, and others.
