The news first broke in an interview her father, Mitch Winehouse had with Daily Mail, the British newspaper.

He revealed to the newspaper that she has serious lung problems. These problems have reportedly been caused by her drug addiction.

Mitch Winehouse took his daughter to a private hospital in London called The Clinic.

Doctors have diagnosed the singer with early stage emphysema.

Emphysema is a lung disease which is progressive, meaning it gets worse over time.

It causes shortness of breath, as well as an inability to do physical activity.

Doctors have told Winehouse she may not be able to get out of a wheelchair in just a few months if she does not quit her drug habits.

She is also being warned that she may have to wear a permanent oxygen mask if she does not drop the drugs.

She is likely to miss all scheduled future dates until further notice, though nothing has been confirmed.
