Legendary comedian George Carlin has died at the age of 71-years old.  He died of heart failure in Santa Monica, California on Sunday.Washington (ChattahBox) – Legendary comedian George Carlin has died at the age of 71-years old. He died of heart failure in Santa Monica, California on Sunday.

George Carlin first hit the scene on TV back in the 1960s with a stand-up comedy act that no one had ever seen before.

From there, he evolved and continued to perform right up until his death this past weekend.

He was the host of the first ever episode of Saturday Night Live back in 1975, and was also the star of several HBO comedy specials through the years.

Other notable roles include some spots in movies such as Dogma, Cars, and others.

He was also nominated for a Grammy in 2006.

Just a week ago he was named as the recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
