Jerry Lewis held his annual telethon over the Labor Day weekend, and set a record by raising $65 million for the Muscular Dystrophy Associaition...Hollywood (ChattahBox) – Jerry Lewis held his annual telethon over the Labor Day weekend, and set a record by raising $65 million for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The Labor Day telethon is held each and every year by Jerry Lewis, and has proven to be a major success time and time again.

This year was better than usual though, as the 22-hour telethon, which which was broadcast from Las Vegas, resulted in $65 million in donations to the MDA.

The total raked in for the 43rd annual event was $1.2 million more than what was taken in back in 2007.

The telethon, hosted by the 82-year old comedian, also helped out Hurricane Gustav victims in Louisiana.
