Britney Spears is well known for doing some crazy things each year during the annual MTV Video Music Awards.

In the past, she has kissed Madonna, dressed up like a slave, among other things.

Most recently, she performed “Gimme More” just last year, which was slated to be her big comeback performance.

Instead, the performance ended up being more humorous than anything else.

It was rumored that Britney Spears was going to make another comeback performance this year, but that was not the case.

It was confirmed about a week ago that she would not be performing this year.  Instead, it was confirmed that she would open up the show.

A great deal of speculation surrounded what she would do to open the show.

As the curtain lifted at the awards show at Paramount Studios, Britney Spears gave us another moment.

She was shown in her dressing room, and took part in a comedy vignette of sorts.

She took part in the scene with actor Jonah Hill (Pineapple Express).  Jonah Hill tried on several occasions durng the vignette to go in for a kiss from Britney Spears, but failed on a few occasions.

She ended up opening the show, and stated that she simply had to go to open up the MTV VMAs.

From there, the awards show kicked off, with Britney Spears leading the way.

She left her dressing room, heading to the main stage to a standing ovation.

She stated she was there to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 2008 MTV VMAs,a nd things kicked of from there.

So there you go, nothing over the top, just Britney Spears in all her glory per usual.
