The special took to television on Friday night at the 8 p.m. time slot on ABC, NBC, as well as CBS.  The idea behind it was to unify the three major networks to help out the Entertainment Industry Foundation, and to push cancer research.

The event turned out to be very successful, as the special averaged 10.3 million viewers during the hour-long broadcast.

Fox and the CW were the only two networks not to get involved, and did not do as well in terms of ratings.

The special helped raise over $100 million for cancer research.

The non-profit charity the Entertainment Industry Foundation helped put on the big event.
