My elementary school was never like this, if it were I would never have left!!  From the books written by Louis Sachar “Sideways Tales of Wayside School” comes these 13 episodes of the side splitting series featuring a school built 30 stories high!

We experience the school through the eyes of the new kid Todd as he learns the ins and outs of a sideways school where naps are encouraged and dodgeball is more than just a game!  Where cows are frequent guests in the school and a school with the view from a kids perspective.

Louis Sachar is well known for his series “Holes” but “Sideways Tales of Wayside School” was his first books written in 1978 while working at a sweater warehouse.  He is quoted as saying that none of his stories are based on actual events or personal experiences, since his are all too boring.  Needless to say if any of these events were to take place I would enjoy spending a day in his shoes!

Wayside School is a fun and wacky adventure through a school and in a world that is truly for and by kids!

Film: 7.0 Just plain fun.
