If the regular cast and content of this show were not enough to draw in a viewing audience then the guest appearances on this second season of Brothers and Sisters should.

For those not familiar with the series, it revolves around the lives of the Walker family which consists of Sally Field as the matriarch Nora Walker and her five children.  This is a family who in the first season dealt with the loss of the well to do patriarch and must now pick up the pieces.  This becomes incredibly more difficult as the hidden life of their father is uncovered.

Affairs, questionable business decisions and the family legacy are all left to the kids to figure out now that dad is gone.  Each of the kids has a unique role within the family dynamic, as is the case in most real life families, and with each dynamic comes unique problems for the family to deal with.

As I mentioned the attraction of this series is the great cast, but once you are in you will stay for the story.  As if a cast of regulars including Sally Field, Calista Flockhart and Rob Lowe were not enough this season some big name stars joined the cast to help peel back the onion that is the Walker family.

Danny Glover, Chevy Chase, Steven Weber and Gary Marshall all take turns in various roles on the show that help deepen the characters that we have met.  Often times in television series we see guest stars brought in to attract an audience or to help a show that is struggling, not the case here, these actors and actress’ came on board because of the material and the challenge.

The writing of the shows and the characters that are created are deep and rich and just what an actor looks for in opportunities that are presented.

Over the course of the second season a number of real life issues are dealt with on this series, homosexuality, depression, drug use even the war in Iraq.

The biggest moments of this season however are around a political election and a marriage between Calista and Rob’s characters.

You can see in the series that the actors and actress’ are totally committed to these moments and drama, and truly bring the emotion out of the screen and into your heart.

The DVD set includes all 16 episodes in the Second Season for you to relive all of the moments of this season as well as a number of great Bonus Material.  Included within the box is a small envelope containing a number of the favorite Walker family recipies, for you to try at home.

The obligatory Deleted Scenes and Bloopers and Outtakes are included which do show how much fun the cast has on set and as a side how different Rachel Griffiths is from her on screen character!

The additional materials include a look at the aforementioned guest stars on the second season, and a look behind the scenes in the “Open House” section of the materials.
