Burn After Reading managed to set the box office in fire this past weekend.........Hollywood (ChattahBox) – Burn After Reading managed to set the box office in fire this past weekend.

The box office has been in a slump over the past few weeks, but it was Brad Pitt and George Clooney that managed to save the day.

Burn After Reading jumped to the top of the box office, doing far better than many estimated.

The film took in $19.4 million in its opening weekend, marking the best debut ever for Joel and Ethan Coen.

It was followed up by Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys, which took in a respectable $18 million.

Coming in a close third was Righteous Kill, starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, taking in a solid $16.5 million.

This was the biggest non-franchise debut for Pacino and De Niro in a long time.

Rounding out the top five was The Women, and The House Bunny.
