Grease lightning is back and better than ever!  This 30th anniversary edition of the hit musical Grease starring John Travolta as Danny and Olivia Newton-John as Sandy is available on September 23, 2008.

While Grease has been released on DVD before this version of the DVD is a bit more enhanced than the previous versions, in both sight and sound.  The picture is sharper and clearer and the sound is fantastic, even if you are singing over it!

The film itself follows a group of teenagers returning to high school after a summer full of fun, sort of like High School Musical but back in the 70’s!  Danny Zucco played by John Travolta is the guy all the ladies want to be with and the guys want to be.  The film opens with him telling the story of his summer and the girl he met and while he plays it cool we see this girl was more than a one night stand for him.  He puts it out of his mind since the girl returned to Australia at the end of the summer…or so he thought.  Much to Danny’s surprise his girl appears right at his own Rydell High and joins up with the rest of the Pink Ladies!!

This is one of those films that classifies as a must see with all of the great songs, singing, dancing and cameos of 70’s stars.  This version of the DVD does not offer much more than it’s predecessors in terms of Bonus Features although the interviews with the stars of the film, John Travolta and Olivia Newton John are there.  This version does however come wrapped in it’s own Rydell varsity sweater!  The reality is this film does not need the extras this is one of those films where all we need is the story and songs we are used to and we are satisfied!

Film: 8.5

Audio: 7.0

Video: 7.0

Bonus Material: 5.0

Overall:  6.9
