Timing is everything they say and the timing of this release of vintage SchoolHouse Rocks songs and montages is spot on.  For those not familiar with the series, Schoolhouse Rocks is a series of music video like segments done in a youthful way to convey what would otherwise be complex politically theme ideas and concepts.  These segments did air at one time on Saturday morning television a bit more than 30 years ago (the 30th anniversary edition was recently released).  While this collection is politically focused not all of Schoolhouse Rock’s content was, segments like Conjunction Junction and Grammar Rock show it’s language arts skills as well.

The Election Collection hits the street 6 weeks before America gets to decide it’s next leader.  Who knows perhaps some inspiration will come from this collection to help you decide your vote!  This set includes previously released material in a new format and packaging, and that is about all that is new.  The segments included are familiar shorts like, “I’m Just a Bill” and “I’m Gonna Send Your Vote to College” as a way of explaining some of the complex governmental procedures to a very young audience.

All in all not much has been done to enhance the quality of the presentation, visually or audibly.  I find that if you are a fan of the series and want to reminisce back to ABC Saturdays of the 1970’s then check this out.
