High School Musical 3 and Saw V combined for what ended up being a huge weekend at the box office.......Washington (ChattahBox) – High School Musical 3 and Saw V combined for what ended up being a huge weekend at the box office.

High School Musical 3 Senior Year managed to rake in $42 million worth of ticket sales at the box office this weekend.

This broke the record for a musical at the box office, beating out the ABBA-themed musical Mamma Mia! which took in $27.8 million back in July.

High School Musical 3 is the big-screen adaptation of the hit franchice.

Saw V did very well in its opening also, as it took in $30.5 million, which is around what the past films took in.

The full expectation is that the Saw tradition will continue with Saw VI next year, and so on.

The two movies combined for the biggest box office weekend in over two months.

Not doing so well though was the opening of Pride and Glory with Edward Norton and Colin Farrell, taking in only $6.3 millioin at No. 5.
