Huge Ratings For Election Night, Over 70 Million Total Viewers

Election night in the U.S. was a huge draw as over 70 million people tuned in to see who would be the new president of the United States............Washington (ChattahBox) – Election night in the U.S. was a huge draw as over 70 million people tuned in to see who would be the new president of the United States.

Heading into election night, it became pretty clear that Barack Obama was going to be the next president.

That did not stop 71.5 million people from watching it all go down though.

Nielsen ratings revealed 71.5 million people watched from the hours of 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

This blew away the 2004 election night which drew 59.2 million, and the 2000 election night whichi drew 61.6 million.

The leader of the pack was ABC with 13.6 million total viewers overall to their network, followed by NBC with 13.1 million tuning in to watch the coverage.

Roudning out the top 5 was CBS with 8 million and Fox with 5.36 million.

Ruling cable was CNN, which drew an impressive 12.3 million.
