Chris Brown’s New Facebook Message – Seems Childish

February 13, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Beleaguered R&B star Chris Brown has made his first statement albeit on the internet, following his alleged assault on his girlfriend Rihanna. Brown confirmed his split from the Barbadian beauty by changing his relationship status on his private Facebook page, to ‘single,’ which makes me think ‘gee you think Chris?’.  Perhaps something like ‘upset’ or ‘troubled’ might be a little more appropriate under the circumstances?

The private page with this update – listed under his full name Christopher Maurice Brown is separate to his public Facebook and MySpace pages used by his fans

The singer also posted an update reading: “You’ll begin to see her true colors. Believe it!”

Brown’s comment appears to suggest Rihanna, 20, is partly to blame for the alleged attack which left her with heavy bruising, scratches and bite marks. I am sure that will make some of his diehard fans happy because many refuse to believe Brown is at fault and every accused person deserves his day in court.  But if the reports of Rihanna’s injuries are true and they do seem to be substantiated all the provacation in the world doesn’t justify a man beating a woman like that.

In his profile picture, Brown is seen hugging a mystery brunette while smiling and pulling her leg across his body. I try to remember that Brown is 19-years-old but this is really juvenile stuff, just the wrong time to be sending that message ‘I’m still a player’!

Police so far have charged Brown with making criminal threats, and more serious charges could follow.

childish is an understatement. if it was one of his fans who changed his facebook status, they are further muddying his image by painting him as unrepetentant and accusatory — an image that doesn’t soften his image as a violent aggressor. if he is the one that changed his facebook status, he is immature, misguided, and in need of counseling. either way, facebook shouldn’t be the medium by which a r&b star communicates with his fans. press conference please. CB managers, get on your job!

If his posts seems childish maybe it’s because he is only 19. He is more of a man/child than a man.

What is destroying these two, more than their arguments and fighting is the media scrutiny.

    R. Kelly has not gone to jail. Michael Jackson is a homosexual pedophile. The killers of Biggie and Tupac have yet to be found. Bernie Madoff has more than likely made off with billions of dollars putting goodness knows how many people on the soup line and the media chooses to go after a 19 year old boy who hasn’t even spoken out to defend himself in any manner because he is being (in my opinion) ill advised.

I am not trying to make light of what is supposed to have transpired between Chris and Rihanna but we don’t know all the facts. Can we just wait until someone, be it lawyers, family members, publicists make an OFFICIAL on record statement before we destroy a 19 year old who has been fighting for his career for most of his life. Geez!
