Guy Ritchie told by Warner Bros to reshoot parts of Sherlock Holmes movie?

February 18, 2009

(ChattahBox) — I don’t like to hear this kind of news because it usually means the studio is not liking the movie their director made.  It’s really disappointing because I was looking forward to this particular movie despite my not being a big fan of Guy Ritchie’s usual film direction. The UK Sun is reporting Ritchie was left furious following a meeting with studio bosses in charge of his Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr. playing the iconic detective and Jude Law taking on the role of the super sleuth’s sidekick Watson.

Madonna’s ex is currently shooting the movie in London, and was told by studio executives at Warner Bros, to re-shoot five weeks worth of filming that they thought wasn’t up to par. A source said the scenes were filmed while director Guy was “distracted” by his divorce from Madonna.  The source went on to say: “It’s disastrous news, but Guy has promised to fix it.” Ritchie is now allegedly battling to keep the project on track for its original November (09) release date.

I’m glad that a British director is taking over such a classically British icon. I loved Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, and love the EverHype ( review that gave it 3.25 stars and called it “Pleasing.” I think that this could be a great movie, and it’s too bad there are snags.

The man is a dawg and I hope this film flops, he only married Madonna to get 100 million dollars that he never earned its discusting he spent the entire marriage being a drunk at the local pub while that poor woman worked her tail off to make the money he stole from her. He deserves what ever karma brings his money hungry self.

I did a few days work on the new ‘Sherlock Holmes’ movie and after witnessing Guy Ritchie’s “involvement”, I wouldn’t be surprised if these rumours about re-shoots were true.

He didn’t seem ‘distracted’, rather bored and uninterested. He spent a lot of time strumming on an acoustic guitar with his feet up and talking on the phone. When Robert Downey Jnr talked to him there didn’t appear to be a whole lot of chemistry there.

I’d have thought making this film would’ve been a great distraction from his divorce and he could’ve thrown himself in it – but just from being on-set those few days (and maybe those were his ‘bad’ days) I know personally I’d have been all over that film giving it 100%, instead of glaring at the (really good) 1st AD as if he were a complete moron and warm myself to the rest of the crew.
