June 26, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Spokesman and attorney for the Jackson family, Brian Oxman in an interview (video below) with the UK’s Channel 4 News’ Krishnan Guru Murthy that although the cause of Jackson’s death is still not known, he and Jackson’s family have been ‘very frightened of him abusing his medication’ for a long time. Oxman has threatened to be ‘very vocal and critical’ if the pop stars death occurred as a result of medications he was taking. Oxman said that he’s been the family’s attorney for 20 years.

Oxman said he was “stunned” and that he wept along with the Jackson family on learning of Michael’s death. He also mentioned that the people around Michael were “enabling him” and that he “warned” the family that Michael may have been abusing prescription drugs. “Over the last several years I have said to family members that he is overmedicated.” Oxman added that he had previously voiced concerns over Jackson’s health but insisted that although the singer had been on medication for a ‘great long time’ for health reasons, his general condition had always been fairly stable. Mr Oxman also raised concerns over how the fallout from Jackson’s death could affect the late pop star’s legacy.
