Glenn Beck’s Attack on Obama as ‘Racist’ Results in Pulled Ads

August 6, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Glenn Beck has proven there is no line he will not cross. On July 28, Beck strolled on the set of “Fox and Friends” and within a few seconds, without giving a second thought to what came out of his mouth, declared without preamble, that Barack Obama the President of the United States was a racist. And now Beck is finally paying the price with lost advertisers.

Beck’s comments: Obama has “a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.” “I’m not saying he doesn’t like white people,” Beck said. “He has a problem. This guy is, I believe, a racist.”

It seemed, Beck’s outrageous attack on President Obama was going to get lost in the ugly clamor of hate speech that passes for punditry these days. Fox News yawned and issued an unapologetic statement about Beck having the right to the “..freedom to express his opinions.”

Three advertisers thought differently about Glenn Beck’s “freedom” to smear the president of the United States, as a “racist” on national television, and pulled their ads from his program., owned by LexisNexis, Procter & Gamble and Progressive Insurance demanded that their ads be removed from Beck’s program, after receiving thousands of complaints from

The website is dedicated to “strengthening Black America’s political voice.” The organization began a campaign, urging its members to call on Beck’s advertisers to stop sponsoring his show, describing Beck’s comments as, “…repulsive, divisive and shouldn’t be on the air.”

John Michaels, Senior Communications Manager at LexisNexis responded to the complaints saying, “Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. “ We have suspended further advertising during Mr. Beck’s program.” Procter & Gamble and Progressive Insurance referred to advertising on Beck’s show as an error that would be corrected.

Fox News issued a statement saying that the ads were moved to run on different programs, with the network losing no revenue.

MSNBC’s Mike Barnicle weighed in on Beck’s outrageous attacks on President Obama, saying, “…Hello, Glenn!? His mother was white! He was raised by a white woman, his grandmother! Hello? Glenn? Come back down to Earth please!”

Please find a proofreader. The name of the company is Procter & Gamble, not Proctor & Gamble.

Omg, and it’s LexisNexis, not NexisLexis.

Glenn Beck should be required to wear his Klan hood on TV. This guy is a poorman’s Rush Limbaugh.

  4. Old Man Dotes on August 7th, 2009 12:36 pm

Perhaps Glenn Beck is the guy who supplies Rush Limbaugh with drugs .

  5. Robert on August 7th, 2009 12:51 pm

Why the sudden indignation over verbal attacks by “celebrities” on the office of the presidency of the United States?
For the past eight years its been the norm? It has been vicious, deeply personal and non stop. Suddenly its an affront to the democratic process?

  6. undisclosed on August 7th, 2009 5:49 pm

Acutally Robert is it Proctor and Gamble not Procter and Gamble. Nice try though. As for all this, what sources do you have that P&G has decided to “fix the problem” it’s not on their website? They haven’t made any press releases and believe me with this kind of crap you would think they would want it echoed on their site first.

Find some sources then I’ll believe it.

THE TYPICAL WHITE PERSON: A caucasian who behaves in one of the following obnoxious fashions, common among the white race:

A.) Whites whom argue that blatant anti-black racism and slavery was long ago so it shouldn’t be held against them today now that there are laws forcing them to be humane and not act like animals, despite the fact that if you look up any video on the black race or that even shows a black person engaging in bad behavior of some sort (on such sites as youtube) you’re bound to see a sea of caucasians making anti-black racist remarks. Bear in mind, most videos on youtube are of white people engaging in bad behaviors and it’s very rare to see any anti-white racist remarks. Any of the few secretive places whites can still get away with direct anti-black racism, you’ll see them taking full advantage of with anti-black racist remarks galore. In the end, this is why society doesn’t give a shit when whites bitch about strict treatment they receive for being perceived as racists, because if they could get away with it, they would (as so many of them have proven).

B.) Whites who realize they’re restricted to the internet (certain areas of the internet that is) if they want to engage in any anti-black behavior and thus use the internet to make anti-black racist remarks and complaints. These white people realize that if they take their anti-black behavior into a public forum even in the least, society will rip them a new one. Don Imus and Kramer were white people that were unaware they’d get their asses handed to them if they acted out in public and were eventually feasted upon.

C.) Whites who bitch and moan about the few double standards placed on them (such as not being able to say the “n” word) as if this were an instance of them being lynched before a vicious crowd of black people watching on like it’s a movie, raped, attacked by dogs, hosed down, whipped, barred from certain establishments, etc., which all lasted for centuries. This extremely mild form of karma is responded to as if whites themselves were enduring what blacks endured before the 1970s. Even still, black people who underwent slavery and abusive racism didn’t react wimpishly like the whites do in regards to not being able to use the ‘n’ word while blacks can. Btw, you know a group is racist when they bitch about not being able to use a racial slur for whatever reason. The white race is one that can dish it in the worst way, but can’t take it in the least.

D.) Whites who bitch about double standards against them like the one above, while disregarding all the white privileges in the media that none of the minorities have.

E.) Whites who diss blacks by commenting on how so many of them are on welfare, in jail, involved in crime, etc., when these whites are too dumbass to realize that this is all brought on by poverty; poverty stemming from the crappyass start blacks received in this country thanks to the white man. If it weren’t for abusive anti-black racism (which only ended in the 1960s) the amount of blacks who are poor and lower-class wouldn’t be so high. It’s not just a coincidence that the amount of blacks who are poor and lower-class is so high while the majority of whites live it up in higher-class areas; yet whites still bitch about double standards like free college (which is not even the case as myself and all the black people I know have paid for college) to further keep blacks down. The people who should really be living poor and lower-class are the ones who initiated all the crime and not only that, but legalized it making their horrendous acts out to be moral; white people.
That being said, this is why black people are justified in feeling pissed off even today as they are still affected by centuries and centuries of anti-black racism from whites. This effectively takes care of the white man’s typical response that it was a long time ago and to let it go.

F.) Whites who try to make themselves out to be heroes in regards to anti-black racism by stating that if it weren’t for the monstrous slavery committed by their people African Americans would be stuck in Africa (a lower-class continent that isn’t very advanced) as if the intention behind centuries of abusive anti-black racism was to keep African Americans from experiencing a rough life, and not to laze around having other people do their dirty work for them. Also, if white people didn’t have so much free time on their hands with slaves doing all their dirty work for them, they probably wouldn’t have had all the time they did to help advance the U.S. from being in the same state Africa is in today (btw, even while being held back and enslaved, blacks played a big role as well in the advancement of the U.S.; many black inventors).

G.) Whites who defend their ancestor’s anti-black racism by stating blacks themselves in Africa (again, a poverty-stricken continent with many disadvantages) have enslaved their own kind while being too dumb to realize, the issue blacks have with whites is their racism and blacks enslaving blacks is not an example of racism. The white person who uses this argument apparently thinks whites are labeled as being “slaveholders!” (Never heard that one before) They’re criticized as being “racists” so this argument is pointless.

This is typical behavior from Americas like you. Its easier to blame others than to look in the mirror and see the real problem. Stop whining and go get a job, work hard, and live the American dream like the rest of us hard working, struggling Americans. Oh, I forgot there are no jobs now but that must be the White Americans fault too. I’ve worked and LIVED with all races for over 20 years and I’ve seen poor Black, White, Hispanics and Asians all succeed and do great things by hard work and dedication. They didn’t use the race card to get an unfair advantage.

Glen Beck is entitled to his opinion, isn’t this still America? You can yell and insult a police officer but if you’re white you can’t have an opinion? This is not even close to the Imus incident so your point is invalid. Beck didn’t hide and he did it on National TV. Oh, I forgot he can’t call someone a racist because he is white, right? He made a comment about an individual, not a race of people.

How would you feel if you lost your job, if you have one, because of your racist blog here? It would be pretty cool wouldn’t it? You speak your mind in America and get slammed.

There have been Presidents that I don’t agree with but I guess I’m a traitor because I should have followed them blindly because of their race, right?

Doing the right thing isn’t always the most popular thing.

Why don’t you, and your fellow Americas make up a list of things that us plain dumb English, Irish, German Americans can and can’t do. I added that because it seems to be the thing to do since some of us want to segregate ourselves by where our ancestors are from. I see people as people and not by their skin color or origin.

I’m very interested in all these advantages I as an English, Irish, German American have that you do not.

This will never end because of racist white and black Americans like you.

I pray you can find peace in your life someday.

    Have a Great Day!

I think Mr Beck is finally right on an issue.
Obbama is filled with hate. You can see it in his eyes althou he tries to conceal it.
Anyway.. What business does the president have to intefere with police work? He should do his job and not involve himself with things that isnt his even remotly included in his job description.

The problem is that if other companies are not pressured to do the same, these brave companies made will be targeted by the right winged nuts. To prevent that a lot of pressure most be put on other companies to do the same, so that these companies are not left to stand alone.

“typical white person” Yep that’s about as prejudiced and racist a comment as one could say. Oh, wait a minute… That’s what Obama calls us too! Hmmm Maybe old Glenn has stumbled on to something here…

So, here is where we stand. If a white person has a problem with Obama’s heath care er uh insurance reform then he is racist. If a white person calls a black person a racist for saying “typical white people” then in turn they are still racist?

So, has racist become the new “N” word? a word that people of color can use with abandon, but is forbidden for a white person to speak?

I agree with whenwillitend above. TONETARE! GET A JOB! Stop expecting everyone else to cater to your every need just because your great great great grandpappy might have been a slave.

In closing. Tonetare has every bit as much a right to be a bigoted hater as anyone else, including Glenn Beck, though after having seen Mr. Beck a few times, I see nothing hateful in his speech. You even have a right to stop buying from GEICO, though I rather doubt a high percentage of “color of change” members actually buy insurance.

lets face it, obama is a racist. not to mention, if this health care bill passes, we are all in alot of trouble. it seems he is trying his hardest to bring america down.

I just want everyone to know that the person whom wrote this is, acting stupidly! This is the most bias ignorant piece of work since I listened to Obama reveal what 20+ years in Reverand Wrights church means…….

Obama is a racist and a facist-there is no denying this. He just uses the white house and his suits to cover it up, but his actions are none-the-less apparent.

Cops acting stupidly for doing their job

Health Care Bill uses tens-of-billions of Dollars to give preferential treatment to underpriviledge minorities

How about the firing of IG Gerald Walpin, who was investigating Obama’s friend and supporter and found that he “misappropriated” $850,000 of TAX PAYERS funds. When the IG wanted charges to be pressed, he was fired. This friend of OBama’s who stole tax payers funds is a former basketball star and is black. OUTSTANDING!

Take from the wealthy and giving to the poor–because by sheer number via population statistics minorities make up the larger percentage to their population

Or tax the wealthy a lot more to pay for the poor-class warfare anyone?

Stimulus money to help those who defaulted on their mortgages and screw those who paid theirs on time-again, the larger percentages are minorities who defaulted on their mortgages.

The surgeon general he appointed? There are HUNDREDS of more qualified individuals whom deserved that position, her experience is running a low income clinic and working in a nursing home-that’s it. She is head of the AMA chapter where she is from, again that is not saying much considering the fact that the AMA only represents less than 20% of all doctors in the US. Coincidentally she is black. Nothing like a fat surgeon general dictating to America they nee to lose weight. The hypocrisy!

Lord… we need to keep giving examples as to what Obama is BLATANTLY doing to A) Incite Class Warfare and B) How he is in fact behaving in a racist manner?

PS……the hiring of Obama’s Green Czar Van Jones, who is a convicted felon? Seriously, why did he hire him again? Coincidentally he is black.

who came up through the ranks as a racial radical arrested in the Rodney King riots, embraced communism while in jail, formed a socialist collective which championed the ideas of Marx and Lenin, and has now seized on on the environmentalist movement as a vehicle for his extremist ideas.”

The East Bay Express has a very lengthy article about Jones and his activist past, written in 2005. Here are a few telling excerpts:

But that wasn’t enough to assuage his anger. Convinced that American society needed a wake-up call on race, Jones abandoned his plan to become a journalist, concluding that he would rather make news than report it. “If I’d been in another country, I probably would have joined some underground guerrilla sect,” he said.

…while Jones was observing the first large rally since the lifting of the city’s state of emergency [during the Rodney King riots], he got swept up in mass arrests. It was a turning point in his life.

Jones had planned to move to Washington, DC, and had already landed a job and an apartment there. But in jail, he said, “I met all these young radical people of color — I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was, like, ‘This is what I need to be a part of.’” Although he already had a plane ticket, he decided to stay in San Francisco. “I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary.” In the months that followed, he let go of any lingering thoughts that he might fit in with the status quo. “I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th,” he said. “By August, I was a communist.“

“We have long seen the close connections between the worldwide environmentalist movement and Marxism. They have long shared the same anti-business, anti-free market, anti-freedom agenda and methods of thuggish intimidation. Like many Marxists, Jones has recognized that the environmentalist movement makes a great vehicle to advance Marxism.”

Looks like he fits in with Obama’s style of rule, huh?

Give me a break, look at his cabinet picks, his Czars, and the way he is destroying America. Beck is just saying what a great deal of people believe. The irony is the policies of the DNC hurt the poor and blacks in a regressive way. At least Beck didn’t call him smart.
