Yoshihito Usui, Creator Of The Crayon Shinchan Series, Found Dead

September 21, 2009

Tokyo (ChattahBox) – Police have confirmed that a body found Saturday morning on Mount Arafune is that of popular cartoonist Yoshihito Usui, creator of the ‘Crayon Shinchan’ series.

The 51-year-old went missing on September 11, after going on a climb on the mountain. He never returned home, and his body was discovered by a hiker.

Usui was well known for his beloved series about a kindergartner and his family. The comic book was later adapted as a television series and film, and has been used in a new campaign aimed at child rearing in the region.

Our condolences to his surviving family, as well as his fans.
