CNN’s Lou Dobbs to Quit Effective Immediately

November 11, 2009

(ChattahBox)— CNN’s controversial host Lou Dobbs, has come under increasing criticism of late, as he has advanced various fringe conspiracy theories on his nightly program, as well as continuing to display his Xenophobic anti-immigration views. The New York Times is reporting that Lou Dobbs is leaving the cable news network and he plans to make the announcement on Wednesday’s show.

Dobbs did not say if he had plans with another network, but it was reported that he had met with Roger Ailes last month for a possible spot on the Fox Business Network.

However, a Fox spokesperson said on Wednesday, “We have not had any discussions with Lou Dobbs for Fox News or Fox Business.”

Dobb’s contract was not due to expire until the end of 2011

(Update: Within a few minutes into his last broadcast of Lou Dobbs Tonight, the long-time CNN anchor made his announcement that he was leaving the cable news network referencing “winds of change.”

“Over the last six months it’s become increasingly clear that strong winds of change have begun buffeting this country and affecting all of us. And some leaders in media, politics and media have been urging me to go beyond the role here on CNN and to engage in constructive problem solving, as well as contribute positively to the issues of our day. And to continue to do so in the most honest language possible, I’ve talked extensively with Jonathan Klein, John’s the president of CNN and as a result of those talks, John and I have agreed to a release from my contract that will enable me to pursue new opportunities.” […]

I wonder if his pending divorce had anything to do with his decision to quit?

Fortunately Dobbs will be able to continue to speak the truth on his radio show.
As an Independent it was refreshing to hear an Independents point of view.

Lou Dobbs was probably fired because of low ratings. His show is in fourth place. You don’t resign on a Wednesday night without notice after working at a place for 30 years. He probably came in to work yesterday and they probably said today is your last day, don’t let the door hit your backside on the way out.

Lou will still have his radio show, but he will no longer have a fancy platform at CNN. Now he’s just another talk radio nut.

    hahahahahah

As an occasional view of Lou’s show, you cannot help but notice his dive into the dark site. I watched him more regularly years ago, but now he is a joke.
