James Taylor and Carole King set to tour together in 2010

November 12, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Most reunion concerts seem a little contrived for me, and I am probably showing my age but this sounds like it could be a great tour, if they avoid staging at huge stadiums. Singer-songwriter stars Sweet Baby James Taylor and Carole King are planning to tour together in 2010, 30 years after they first performed, with a string of dates starting in March in Australia, New Zealand then Japan before heading home for a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in May (10). Additional dates in North America and Europe will be announced soon.
The dates will mark the 30th anniversary of their debut show together at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. The idea for this tour came together, when King and Taylor re-teamed to celebrate the fabled venue’s 50th anniversary in 2007. Their original backing band, consisting of guitarist Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar, drummer Russ Kunkel and bassist Lee Sklar will accompany the tour, dubbed ‘The Troubadour Reunion’. Their set list will include songs they performed during their 1970 debut show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, which helped propel them both to the world stage. One of Taylor’s most beloved hits, You’ve Got A Friend, was written by King. King’s Tapestry a personal favorite, was the top-selling pop solo album ever, until the release of Michael Jackson’s Thriller in 1982.
