John King Named As Lou Dobbs Replacement

November 12, 2009

U.S. (ChattahBox) – CNN has announced that Lou Dobbs, who is retiring rather suddenly this week from the network, will be replaced his time slot with John King, host of State of the Union.

Dobbs has been at the center of a great deal of controversy over the years, including being accused of creating fake statistics about leprosy to further a point against illegal immigrants.

It is his recent fight with a FOX News host that raised some speculation about whether or not be was forced to resign amongst further criticism for CNN’s employment of him.

Whether this is true or not is hard to say, but Dobbs says he is leaving in order to pursue ‘advocacy journalism’.

John King, a veteran journalist and host of CNN’s State of the Union is set to replace his time slot.

It will be a big move for King, who will be pitted against both Chris Mathew’s Hardball on MSNBC, and Shepard Smith’s FOX News show.

King has worked as a journalist since 1985, after graduating from the University of Rhode Island, and joining the Associated Press. He has worked from CNN since 1997.

When you look at viewership statistics, you see quite clearly that despite CNN’s attempts to give airtime to any conservative crackpot, their demographics are skewed very democratic.

Lou Dobbs was the last remaining conservative mouthpiece on CNN, and ratings showed that people were turning the channel whenever his show came on, mainly because of his vaguely racist battle against Mexican immigrants and his endless criticism of the current administration.
