SNL on Lou Dobbs: ‘What is it With CNN and Runaway Bags of Hot Air?’

November 15, 2009

(ChattahBox)—-Last night’s Saturday Night Live show featured a hilarious spoof of Lou Dobbs’ resignation from CNN, with Darrell Hammond returning to play the xenophobic anti-immigrant conspiracy theorist. Seth Myers on the Weekend Update segment, introduced Hammond as Dobbs remarking, “What is it with CNN and runaway bags of hot air? Myers was comparing CNN’s breathless and highly mocked coverage of the Balloon Boy story to Dobbs’ resignation.

Hammond then proceeded to effectively lampoon Dobbs’ unhinged bigotry:

“But this summer I was given a choice, either I can stop ranting and raving about insane immigration conspiracy theories, or I could leave CNN. And Seth that’s to me, no choice at all. Don’t get me wrong it’s hard to leave. But in recent years it’s become clear the C in CNN is not the letter C, but is rather the Spanish word Si meaning yes, as in yes the Mexicans are coming and they’re here to stay. Now I of course wish only the best to my replacement John King AKA, Juan King.”

“Let’s not kid ourselves Seth he claims he’s American but he’s got that Latin tinge, with the fancy haircut and the well tailored suits, possibly purchased with drug money. Alas, mine is an all too familiar predicament for so many Americans forced out of their jobs in favor of cheap immigrant labor.”
