January 20, 2010

(ChattahBox) – As Conan O’Brien prepared to leave NBC over a conflict with Jay Leno and a coveted time slot, issues of staff compensation have put him in the ring with the network.

After trying to push for more money for his crew and staff, which will be let go when his show ends in a few days, the network has spoken out with harsh criticism for the late night star.

“It was Conan’s decision to leave NBC that resulted in nearly 200 of his staffers being out of work. We have already agreed to pay millions of dollars to compensate every one of them.”

Added the statement:

“This latest posturing is nothing more than a PR ploy.”

The fight that arose after NBC tried to push Conan’s time slot to 11 PM ina resolution to keep Jay Leno has been a vicious one.

Not only has Conan struck out at the network on his own show, but other celebrities visiting Leno’s show have spoken out as well.

On a memorable episode of Leno, Jimmy Kimmel made constant quips that made it clear whose side he was on, poking fun at the host in support of Conan.
