Anne Hathaway Ditches Catholic Church for Gay Brother

February 8, 2010

(ChattahBox)—-Actress Anne Hathaway, known for her roles in “The Princess Diaries,” and “The Devil Wears Prada,” appears on the cover of the latest issue of British GQ magazine scantily clad in lingerie. And an in-depth interview inside the magazine reveals that Hathaway and her entire family left the Catholic Church, after her older brother announced that he was gay. Hathaway was not about to continue worshiping at a church that does not accept homosexuality.

Hathaway told GQ that she and her family converted to Episcopalians after her brother came out:

“The whole family converted to Episcopalianism after my elder brother came out,” she said. “Why should I support an organization that has a limited view of my beloved brother?”

Although Hathaway says she doesn’t yet feel completely at home in the Episcopalian Church, she is working on it:

“So I’m … nothing [no denomination]. F**k it, I’m forming. I’m a work in progress,” said Hathaway.

Hathaway’s next appears in Tim Burton’s upcoming 3D adventure “Alice In Wonderland.” Hathaway will play the eccentric queen in the film.
