José Carreras to Sing for First Time in Fourteen Years in October

July 21, 2010

(ChattahBox) – Break out the champagne! Opera legend José Carreras will be breaking his performance dry spell at a benefit concert later this year, where he will sing for the first time in almost a decade and a half.

Anyone who is a fan of opera will know his name; Carreras’ version of ‘Nessun Dorma’ is widely considered one of the best performances of the Turandot hit in history, rivaled perhaps only by the late Luciano Pavarotti.

The tenor will be singing at a benefit concert for his organization, the  European Society for Medical Oncologyka, which he started in 1988 after being diagnosed with cancer.

He, Pavarotti and Placido Domingo made up the sensational operatic trio ‘The Three Tenors’, who created a legacy with their incredible voices.

The concert will be held on October 10 of this year.
