Fox News, Iowa GOPers: Can’t Trust Obama on Egypt Because ‘He is a Muslim’ (Video)

February 9, 2011

(ChattahBox Political News)—One of the most persistent smears lodged against President Obama by the right-wing is that he’s a secret Muslim Kenyan usurper. Our President is Christian, he was born in America and he was elected as president in a landslide victory. But facts and reality are not about to stop the right-wing smear machine led by Fox News and fueled by the irrational hate conservative teapartiers have for Obama, dubbed Obama Derangement Syndrome. This was never more on display than on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show Monday night. Frank Luntz, a Republican pollster and propagandist responsible for coining the phrase “government takeover of health care,” which won PolitiFact’s 2010 lie of the year award, led a group of Iowa Republican caucus voters to the only logical conclusion: Obama is a secret Muslim, of course.

Luntz expertly led the group of Iowa Republicans towards the Muslim thing, after asking them to respond to Bill O’Reilly’s pre-Super Bowl interview of President Obama, in which he interrupted our President over 40 times. When asking about the protests and political turmoil in Egypt, O’Reilly fearmongered about the Muslim brotherhood.

After showing the assembled group of Iowa GOPers the question about the Muslim Brotherhood, Luntz went to work.

“After a question by O’Reilly about the Muslim Brotherhood’s role in transitioning a government for Egypt, Luntz began to ask the Iowa Republicans why the meters showed them all having such a negative reaction to Obama’s answers.”

“One woman said she believed the president’s religious convictions guide his policies. When Luntz asked her to clarify, she said, “I believe that he is a Muslim.”’

“Luntz then asked the rest of the group how many believed Obama is Muslim. About a dozen, or nearly half, raised their hands.”

Another day, another round of vicious right-wing attacks portraying President Obama, our first black president, as the “other.”
