Bayer Pulling Plug On Heart-Surgery Drug Trasylol

Bayer AG has announced they are pulling the plug on their heart-surgery drug known as Trasylol..Washington (ChattahBox) – Bayer AG has announced they are pulling the plug on their heart-surgery drug known as Trasylol.

This comes in response Canadian which found that Trasylol was linked to an increased risk of death when compared to other similar drugs on the market. The study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Trasylol was linked to a 50% increased death risk compared to other similar drugs. Bayer AG has already notified the FDA of the decision to pull stock from U.S. market.

The plan is to re-evaluate the drug following the results of another study being worked on, known as BART.

Trasylol was used to reduce bleeding during heart-bypass surgeries.
