Since the H5N1 bird flu virus was detected, nearly 3,000 poultry have been slaughtered to stop the spread of the virus.

All poultry imports from mainland China have also been banned for around 3 weeks.

This supports the belief that a problem may exist with poultry stocks in southern China.

Humans are not at great risk as of right now, as Hong Kong continues to try and work to stop the spread of the virus.
