McDonald’s, Others Drop Tomatoes Due To Salmonella Fears

Retailers, as well as restaurants such as McDonald's have dropped tomatoes from their food and store shelves following a warning by the FDA, stating the tomatoes were linked to Salmonella outbreaks.Washington (ChattahBox) – Retailers, as well as restaurants such as McDonald’s have dropped tomatoes from their food and store shelves following a warning by the FDA, stating the tomatoes were linked to Salmonella outbreaks.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration stated over the weekend that a major Salmonella outbreak was linked directly to the tomatoes.

Since the outbreak began, it has infected 150 people across 16 states in the U.S.

The Salmonella outbreak has been linked to raw red plum, red Roma, and red round tomatoes, though no exact source of the contaminated tomatoes is known yet.

Many restaurants and retailers such as McDonald’s and others have stopped using the tomatoes.

Others who have followed suit include Target, Wal-Mart. and others.
