Diabetes Drug Liraglutide Proves More Effective Than Byetta

The results of a new diabetes trial have shown that the Nova Nordisk drug liraglutide is actually more effective than the commonly used drug Byetta.New York (ChattahBox) – The results of a new diabetes trial have shown that the Nova Nordisk drug liraglutide is actually more effective than the commonly used drug Byetta.

Novo Nordisk applied a month ago to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to have their diabetes drug approved.

The new results of the trial showcase that liraglutide is more effective than Byette, which is made from Eli Lilly and Co. as well as Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc.

The new drug was shown to be better in helping diabetics control their blood sugar levels.

Overall 55% of the patients who took liraglutide reached safe levels with their blood sugar, compared to 45% who used Byetta.
