A new report released by the Center Health, Environment and Justice has found that polyvinyl chloride (PVC) shower curtains give off harmful and toxic chemicals.New York (ChattahBox) – A new report released by the Center Health, Environment and Justice has found that polyvinyl chloride (PVC) shower curtains give off harmful and toxic chemicals.

The study looked closely at five house-brand shower curtains from Wal-Mart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, K-Mart, and Sears.

What researchers found was that PVC shower curtains give off 108 toxic chemicals when first unwrapped, and continues to emit chemicals for 28 days.

Some chemicals are linked to air pollution as well and include aceptophenone, methyl isobutyl ketone, cumene, ethylbenzene, xylene, phenol, and others.

These chemicals have been linked to health problems including lung problems, kidney and liver problems, nausea and headaches.
